Harnessing Science, Tech and Innovation to Combat Distracted Driving in PA

Each day over 100 people die on U.S. roads. With 94 percent of crashes due to driver decision errors,* there is ample room to prevent unnecessary tragedies. Texting while driving is just one example of dangerous behavior that people engage in despite well-publicized bans and educational campaigns. Smartphone apps that measure risky driving, advanced auto safety technology, and insights from behavioral economics open a new generation of possibilities for widely deployable interventions. Tuesday, December 11, we explored scalable technology and behavioral approaches to help end the distracted driving epidemic.
