Executive Vice President, Enterprise Chief Underwriting Officer, Travelers

Patrick (Rick) Keegan is Executive Vice President and Chief Underwriting Officer (CUO) at Travelers. In this role, Rick sets underwriting strategy and drives execution across Travelers’ full portfolio of risk – spanning all business segments, lines of business and geographies.

Rick brings more than 35 years of insurance industry experience to the role. He began his career in 1986 as an underwriter at a large national personal lines carrier, later moving into corporate risk management at a Fortune 100 company where he specialized in complex global risk placements and alternative risk strategies. Since joining Travelers, he has held senior leadership roles across both Underwriting and Claim, most recently serving as Senior Vice President and President of the company’s Construction, Energy & Marine business before assuming his current position as CUO in 2019.

Rick serves on Travelers’ Operating and Management Committees and is a member of the Board of Directors for The Institutes Risk and Insurance Knowledge Group.
