Exploring the Evolution of Citizenship in America

POSTPONED
Exploring the Evolution of Citizenship in America

April 22, 2025

Tuesday 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. ET

This webinar will be rescheduled for the fall, with a time and date to be determined. Please keep an eye out for future conversations among leading thinkers in the areas of civic engagement and civic learning.

The Constitution refers to “a citizen of the United States” but doesn’t define citizenship outright. How has our definition of citizenship been shaped throughout history? Professors Vincent Cannato and Kate Masur will join Janice Brunner, Travelers Group General Counsel and Head of Civic Engagement, to discuss the evolution of citizenship, highlighting landmark legal decisions that have impacted how we understand this topic.

This discussion is part of our Civic Conversations series in which Citizen TravelersSM – Travelers’ industry-leading, nonpartisan civic engagement initiative – and the Travelers Institute® are teaming up to host conversations among leading thinkers in the areas of civic engagement and civic learning. Stay tuned for more discussions featuring thought leaders in this dynamic space and thank you for supporting Citizen Travelers at the Travelers Institute.
